You still have a soft spot for Japanese music. I'd add - feeling a twinge of annoyance ever single time you see twitter or Tumblr go on about Hatsune Miku - partly because you want to go "for fucks sakes there's other Vocaloids out there people" and partly because you're frankly a bit sick of the entire '"Miku made Minecraft" and other jokes about her that just treat her as a generic blue haired anime girl to stamp your politics/"tea" onto' thing.īeing conflicted about the new versions of the old ones you're used to - on one hand holy shit every day Vocaloid sounds more and more human and it's frankly insane, but on the other, it's not the Vocaloid you know? Like it doesn't feel right if it's not robotic and a bit choppy and singing inhumanly fast.

I honestly don't blame them because like I said, the fandom is full of neo-weebs LARPing as Japanese people, if I were Japanese it would probably annoy the shit out of me, too. I also saw a few months ago a REALLY funny comment exchange where a westerner literally commented "sugoi" in romanized Japanese on a Vocaloid video, and some Japanese dude replied in Japanese saying something like "Hey American, why not try to speak some real Japanese?" or something like that. On a re-upload of "Iron Maidens and The Dreamy Princess" which includes a fan-made English translation in the YouTube captions, Japanese fans are trying to get the video taken down because they are accusing the translator of "stealing" the video, saying things like "Guys, the real one is this one" and pasting the link to the official upload. However, occasionally they can get more irritated.
Sometimes they will be more neutral, saying things like "I didn't know so many foreigners were into this kind of music." or "Are there any actual Japanese here?"
